Investing in programs that build beef demand to keep beef top-of-mind for consumers
Through the Producer Communications program, a small percentage of Beef Checkoff dollars are utilized to communicate to beef producers about how their dollars are being used throughout the Beef Checkoff program locally and nationally. This includes the use of dollars in promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, and foreign marketing.

The competition brought together six schools within the ProStart program with a record-breaking 25 entries. Schools included Tolles Career & Technical Academy, Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Center (VSCTC), Jackson High School, Penta Career Center, South-Western Career Academy (SWCA), and Wayne County Schools Career Center.
Preparation is key to a great tailgating experience. The Ohio Beef Council (OBC) offers new recipe videos that take consumers from the kitchen to the grill. Recipes like Steak Flatbread and Mojo Kabobs can be prepped or assembled in the kitchen and travel to the grill for an easy and delicious meal.

Beef’s great taste is a crowd-pleaser, but nutrition is key when fueling for a big win. The Ohio Beef Council (OBC) in partnership with the Ohio State University is bringing back Gameday Tastes & Traditions with new recipes and student-athletes. OBC will work with three student-athletes during the season to promote beef’s nutrition benefits to millions of Buckeye fans.
Thousands of consumers are watching Ohio chefs create beef dishes in the Ohio Beef Council’s Culinary Studio as a part of the council’s Featured Chef video series. Chef Wayne Lewis from 60minutechef.com and season 13 of MasterChef presented two recipes featuring ribeye steaks and short ribs. Chef Vinnie Cimino from Cordelia in Cleveland and a 2024 James Beard Award finalist demonstrated two recipes featuring Picanha steaks and smash burgers. Viewers can follow along with the chefs to create the dishes at home while learning the best cooking methods and tips on OBC’s YouTube channel.
Social media is changing how consumers learn about food and cooking. Consequently, the Ohio Beef Council (OBC) and the Beef Checkoff opted to embrace these changes and adapt to help consumers gain more confidence in handling and cooking beef. The result was the creation of a culinary studio to further educate consumers through online videos and content.
The Ohio Beef Council (OBC) recently published its FY24 marketing plan, providing insight into Checkoff investments for the new year. The Beef Council’s mission is to engage with Ohio’s producers and consumers to strengthen the demand for beef.
